Jens Grede, who launched the fashion brand Skims with Kim Kardashian and wife Emma Grede, has joined the board of directors at United Talent Agency.
Grede, the CEO of Skims, is also chairman of the fashion brand Frame and invests in consumer and media brands via his holding company, Popular Culture.
“Jens brings a remarkable track record of developing and growing category-leading brands at the center of culture and commerce. His vision and insight will be a valuable addition to UTA as we continue to help clients navigate the ever-changing entertainment and brand landscape. We’re excited to welcome Jens to UTA’s board,” David Kramer, CEO of UTA, said in a statement on Thursday.
Grede and business partner Erik Torstensson earlier sold their market agency The Saturday Group and its subsidiaries to Omnicom and Interpublic Group to pivot to other consumer and media businesses.
“I’m incredibly excited to join the UTA Board and work alongside David and leadership as the company continues to identify and unlock opportunities in an evolving entertainment and brand landscape,” Grede said in his own statement.
Grede joins a UTA boardroom after Kramer succeeded longtime leader Jeremy Zimmer as CEO on June 1. Zimmer, the UTA co-founder, shifted to serving as a board member and executive chairman, with Paul Wachter remaining as chairman of the board at the talent agency.
Zimmer led UTA through a significant expansion period, completing some 19 acquisitions, per the company, and partnering with firms like Klutch Sports Group. UTA also secured private equity investment from EQT, in a bid to further turbocharge its growth.
