CBS Launching Soap Podcast Hosted By Rebecca Budig & Greg Rikaart

EXCLUSIVE: Daytime vets Rebecca Budig (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Greg Rikaart (Days of Our Lives) are hoping to hype up soap fans with their new Soapy, an audio and video podcast that promises to “dive deep into the legacy, fandom and enduring appeal” of the genre. The series will kick off July 8 with new episodes dropping weekly through Sept. 30.

While launched by CBS, the podcast will shine a light on new and old soaps from multiple (see: competing) outlets. Upcoming episodes will include Maurice Benard (General Hospital), Tracey Bregman (The Young and the Restless), Marc Cherry (creator, writer, Desperate Housewives), Scott Clifton (The Bold and the Beautiful), Eva LaRue (General Hospital), Christian LeBlanc (The Young and the Restless), Cameron Mathison (General Hospital, All My Children), Karla Mosley (Beyond the Gates), Lawrence Saint-Victor (The Bold and the Beautiful), Melody Thomas Scott (The Young and the Restless), Heather Tom (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Tamara Tunie (Beyond the Gates).

Eric Braeden of The Young and the Restless will serve as Soapy‘s first guest on July 8, followed by Days of Our Lives‘ Deidre Hall on July 15; Beyond the Gates EP Sheila Ducksworth on July 22; and Lauralee Bell of The Young and the Restless on July 29.

Fans can listen to Soapy on Audacy or wherever podcasts are available. Full video episodes will stream weekly on the CBS Brand YouTube Channel.

Soapy is produced by the Paramount Multiplatform Production Group. The podcast is executive produced by Mike Benson. Andrew Pemberton-Fowler serves as producer.
