EXCLUSIVE: Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired One But Many, a documentary that explores the intensifying conflict between humans and wildlife across the globe.

The directorial debut of human-wildlife coexistence advocate Janna Giacoppo makes its world premiere June 29 at the Dances With Films festival in Los Angeles. Watch the trailer for the film below.

“Raw, urgent, and unapologetic – One But Many was shot on location in Kenya and beyond, revealing how the escalating global crisis of human-wildlife conflict is being weaponized against the very people and animals it affects most,” notes a release. “This unflinching documentary exposes the deep ties between the trophy hunting industry and policy decisions driven by both the U.S. and individual African governments, leaving communities and wildlife in peril. But in parts of Kenya, where trophy hunting has been banned for decades, extraordinary models of coexistence are not only emerging—they’re thriving. With truth and radical hope, One But Many dares to reimagine how humans and wildlife share space in an increasingly complex world.”

Giacoppo is the founder of Human Wildlife Project, a nonprofit “dedicated to supporting community-led human-wildlife conflict solutions worldwide.”

“Through locally led conservation initiatives,” the organization’s website states, “we help people and animals thrive together.”

In a statement, Giacoppo said, “We’ve been told we must choose – people or wildlife. That’s a lie. The real choice is whether we keep empowering the systems that destroy both. One But Many is about reclaiming the narrative. It’s proof that another future is already being built – and it starts by listening to the communities the world keeps ignoring. If communities with the fewest resources can coexist with lions and elephants, surely we can find a way to live with coyotes and wolves.”

The documentary is co-produced by Maya Moravec and Dr. Lorinda Hern. Jim Greenbaum and Antonio M. Oftelie serve as executive producers.

Theatrical and digital/streaming release plans will be announced at a later date. Freestyle Digital Media negotiated the deal to acquire One But Many directly with filmmaker Janna Giacoppo.
