Damson Idris Plays Coy About ‘Black Panther 3’ Casting Rumors

As Ryan Coogler works to bring MCU fans a third installment in the Black Panther franchise, casting speculation grows around the superhero movie.

Damson Idris recently offered a playful “yes-no” in response to whether or not he’s been in contact with Marvel Studios about a role in an upcoming Black Panther movie following recent rumors.

After Today‘s Craig Melvin asserted his response means “yes,” Idris teased, “It could mean no.”

When asked if he’d accept the role if it’s offered, Idris gave a definitive “yes.”

Chadwick Boseman first played the role of T’Challa, appearing in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, followed by the Black Panther feature film in 2018. The actor reprised the superhero role in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Boseman was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and died in August 2020. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released in 2022 and dedicated to his memory. The film picked up following the death of T’Challa, with Letitia Wright’s Shuri taking over the heroic title.

In November 2024, Denzel Washington let it slip that he is being considered for a role in the third installment of Black Panther. During an interview in Australia promoting Gladiator II, he said that Coogler was “writing a part for me,” which the director has since confirmed.
