EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Netflix has landed the comedy spec Starf*ckers from writer Heather Regnier. She will pen the script with Jonah Hill and Matt Dines and Alison Goodwin producing for Strong Baby.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. The auction saw several bids come in over the past week, with the streamer landing the winning offer.
Regnier’s film Creature is set to go into production later this year with A24, with Paul Rudd attached to star and Chris Storer. She is coming out of an overall deal at Warner Bros TV, where she developed a live-action adaptation of Powerpuff Girls, which she co-wrote with Diablo Cody, among other projects. She previously produced the animated pilot Ghosting for HBO, which she co-wrote with Matt Fogel and which featured Kiernan Culkin as the lead voice. She has worked on several series, including Veronica Mars for Hulu and Smilf for Showtime. She most recently was a consulting producer on Amazon’s Ride or Die.
